Alhambra - Soul Inspired Living is thrilled to present “Myth and Material: Found-Object Assemblage by Lynda Jasper-Vogel,” an exhibition that delves into the rich tapestry of myth, memory, and material transformation. Running from November 15 through November 30, 2024, this show will feature a reception with the artist on the opening evening from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, offering a unique opportunity for collectors and admirers to meet Jasper-Vogel and engage with her celebrated assemblage work.
Lynda Jasper-Vogel, a multitalented artist born in Monterey, California, began her journey with a Fine Arts degree from San Francisco State University. Her career reflects a lifetime of artistic exploration and self-invention, spanning disciplines from leatherwork and silversmithing to prop-making for the renowned Santa Fe Opera. After founding a mythological and historical art shop in northern California, where she collaborated with a team of fourteen artists, Jasper-Vogel returned to New Mexico in 2004.
Jasper-Vogel’s found-object assemblages are intricate, storytelling sculptures crafted from a wealth of repurposed materials. Drawing on her experience in fine arts and production theater, each piece is imbued with mythological and cultural resonance, informed by diverse aesthetic traditions such as Renaissance altarpieces, folk art, Day of the Dead imagery, and steampunk design. Each element within her works is hand-selected, honed, and placed with meticulous care, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in textures, forms, and hidden details that evoke both past and present mythologies.
Jasper-Vogel’s assemblages have earned her notable acclaim, including multiple awards at the Taos Fall Arts exhibition and a Best of Show honor at Arte de Descartes. As a founding member of the Taos Artists Organization and a long-time participant in the Taos Studio Tour, she continues to be an active and influential figure in the local arts community. Known for her enthusiasm in sharing her process, Jasper-Vogel welcomes art lovers into her world of collected objects and storied characters, each piece offering a window into her creative vision and reverence for the craft.
